After the release of the DEMI tracklisting last week, a lot of fans were curious about some of the tracks and the general direction of the album! Here at PopHatesFags, we aim to please; so we decided to write a review on one of our favourite songs (and a potential future single), ‘Two Pieces’!
Before the release of ‘Heart Attack’, ‘Two Pieces’ was actually the rumored first single. Written by Jason Evigan and Mitch Allan, who worked on the aforementioned ‘Heart Attack’, Lovato also enlisted the help of the criminally underrated Livvi Franc for help on the track.
As far as the sound, the song is pretty standard Lovato fare. It’s pop-rock, but in contrast to Unbroken, this one is a little more indie-sounding – it’s something you might expect from singers such as Sara Bareilles or Christina Perri. The song starts out with some light percussion before Lovato starts singing. “There’s a girl in the window, tears rolling down her face,” she sings, in what is clearly a personal song to Lovato. The chorus hits pretty quickly, with Lovato’s characteristic powerhouse vocals backed up by some thumping drums.”We’ll never fall apart, cos we fit together like two pieces of a broken heart,” sings Demi. In fact, probably the most interesting part of the song is actually the lyrics. There’s talk of “two lost children” and some pretty depressing imagery, but the ultimate message is one of a relationship which will never fall apart. Sweet!
While we’re not sure if the song will ever get the single treatment, we can definitely see it being a fan favorite for live performances. What song are you most looking forward to off the album?

Demi Lovato is the Queen of The X Factor! After having shared the process with Britney Spears last season (the only other female on the judging panel), Demi is back alongside Simon Cowell for a brand new season of crazy auditions and amazing talent (minus Britney)! Lulu and Lala from Ty Loves NY will be auditioning for the upcoming season of The X Factor when the auditions hit NYC on Thursday, April 25th. But what is it like to audition for a reality singing competition? Lulu and Lala both offer a unique twist, since they are identical twin sisters. But what else do they need (other than a great voice) to help give them that extra special something for the X Factor producers and eventually, Demi and Simon? Lulu and Lala took over the first half of Demi’s interview with Zann to ask all things The X Factor; but most importantly the audition process.
Demi confessed to the twins that it’s all about “the look”:
“That is the very first thing that I notice. Because sometimes in that “look”, people have a twinkle in their eye. And if they don’t have that twinkle, than see ya!”
Demi compared The X Factor with other singing reality shows:
“The audition performance, it’s not just the voice but if you come at the judges with something refreshing (after a long day’s of auditions) than it might be memorable.
According to Demi the twins DO have that twinkle. But they might have to work extra hard for Simon. He IS Mr. Cowell after all. Are you thinking of auditioning for The X Factor? We want to hear from you, and what you are doing to prepare for the singing competition. Sound off in the comments below!

Demi Lovato is sending positive vibes her Lovatics’ way on her new album. She opened up about her ups and downs on 2011′s Unbroken, but this year, she’s focusing on the ups. And if you think that the message of that single is victorious, Suspex member Jason Evigan teased fans with what they should expect from her May album release, Demi:
“For her age she’s seen a lot, she’s had a lot of big ups and big downs. She’s matured very fast and I think she naturally skews in that direction,” the producer said of working with the singer. “I think without realizing it she puts herself at the level with Pink. She’s up there mentally with those people. She’s a very smart girl. She didn’t want to go and dwell. She talks about how triumphant she’s been.”
In fact, it’s not just Pink who she’s channeling on the release, but also another equally sassy, strong-willed pop superstar. “I think she’s matured into a woman. I think this album, even though she’s a young lady, her music this album is going to take her to like a Kelly Clarkson now. She’s gonna be like a Pink after this album. All the songs are credible, there’s no cheese. It’s all real classic songs. I think she has one of the best voices out there right now. This album’s gonna really show that and bring her to that next level where she’s not a Disney star.”
