Demi Lovato is pleased treatment made her overhaul her social circle. The 20 year old star checked into a center in 2010 due to “physical and emotional issues”. She later admitted suffering from bulimia and self harming. She also turned to alcohol during her darkest times and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Looking back, Demi is amazed by how sucked in to celebrity life she had become.
“A couple of months before I went to treatment, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there. It was full of people who I considered my closest friends,” she told Company magazine. “When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts. That was a wake up call. I have severe trust issues but I try not to be jaded.”
Now the star has a select group of people she is close to and knows she can rely on. Although it was hard to realize she needed to make changes in her personal life, they have been for the better.
“I don’t have loads of friends. I used to, but then I realized, do any of them actually care? Now I have people who, if I break my leg in the middle of the night, they’ll come to the hospital with me,” she said. “Or they’ll answer the phone at 4 am if I need them.”
The former Disney star used to be close friends with Miley Cyrus and while they still talk, they don’t see each other much. The star has also dismissed claims she dated One Direction’s Niall Horan, insisting they were just friends. She can’t understand why people are so keen to discuss her personal life, or that of other stars.
“I don’t care about Taylor Swift’s love life. I don’t care about Harry Style’s love life,” she said. “I care about mine. I find it weird that people are so obsessed with other people’s love lives!”

The singer spills about who she looks up to and what it’s like to be a mentor. Demi has faced her fair share of criticism over the years, but she’s turning her experiences into something positive that she can pass on to younger girls. Through her partnership with Acuvue 1-Day, she gets to be a role model and mentor to teens who may be struggling with insecurities of their own. Read on for the singer’s get-confident tips and feel-great beauty advice.
How did you get involved with Acuvue 1-Day?
I heard that they were doing this incredible contest with teenagers, trying to help them achieve their dreams. I’m just such a firm believer in going after what you believe in, so I definitely wanted to be a part of it.
How did you envision your future when you were a young teen?
I always knew that I wanted to be in the spotlight as a musician or actress. I knew that this is what I wanted to do.
Who was your inspiration back then?
I really looked up to Shirley Temple and I thought that if she’s a superstar at five years old, I can do it, too! I’ve also really admired everyone from Kelly Clarkson to Christina Aguilera to Whitney Houston.

Can’t wait until May 14 to hear Demi Lovato’s next album, Demi? Well, Lovato may have heard your calls. She took to Twitter late Thursday to give fans a sneak peek at some of the lyrics she’ll be belting out. She kicked off the mini-spree by tweeting the lyric “Can you be my nightingale?” before launching into several more tweets, giving a glimpse at what she’ll be singing about on her fourth studio album.
Love
Much like the album’s lead single “Heart Attack”, which put Lovato’s love on the line; she gets vulnerable for love again. On the unnamed tune, Demi proclaims, “So even if I lose it all, I’ve got so much left to give. I won’t give up. My heart’s on the frontline I’m NOT afraid…”
Letting Go
But, it seems there’s also a track where she’s willing to let go. One song will include the line, “Strong enough to leave you, weak enough to need you, cared enough to let you walk away…”
Loss
Another cut appears to deal with loss and companionship. The lyrics go, “There’s a boy, lost his way, looking for someone to play… There’s a girl in the window, tears rolling down her face…We’re only lost children trying to find a friend, trying to find a way back home.”
However, she wouldn’t confirm which lyrics match which song titles. She left that up to her Lovatics. Suspex producer Jason Evigan, previously told MTV News that the span of emotion Demi teased makes sense, considering just how much Lovato has grown over the last couple years.

These days, our knowledge of celebrities too often originates with paparazzi images and snarky quotes by anonymous “insiders.” After a while, it’s easy to forget that stars are real people. That’s why HuffPost Celebrity decided to launch its all-new #nofilter quick-fire question-and-answer series. Because how well do you know someone until they’ve shared their guiltiest pleasures? Demi Lovato regularly imparts her industry wisdom to aspiring pop stars as a judge on “The X Factor.” But she’ll also spend a day mentoring one lucky fan as part of Acuvue’s 1-Day Contest, which pairs the winning teens with young stars (other participants include Joe Jonas, Dwight Howard and Shay Mitchell). In honor of the partnership, the “Give Your Heart a Break” singer, 20, took our #nofilter challenge.
Why did you want to get involved with the contest?
Winning the Acuvue Inspire Award in 2011 was a really amazing moment for me — it meant so much to be recognized for how I’ve inspired teens, so when Acuvue asked me last year to join their Acuvue 1-Day Contest, I immediately came on board. I was thrilled when they asked me to return as a mentor for a second year, as I had an amazing experience mentoring [winner] Denise last year.
What’s the best part of mentoring a teen?
Believing in yourself is incredibly important, and I want to motivate and inspire others to go after their dreams without fear. The best part of mentoring a teen is that it gives me the opportunity to inspire them and show them that they too can fulfill their own dreams.
What’s your beauty secret?
Drinking a lot of water!

Demi has been tweeting up a storm of bare-faced photos and now she is revealing her secrets to clear and amazing skin! See the exact products she uses below! Demi Lovato, 20, is naturally beautiful. She tweeted a photo without makeup on April 3 while at a photo shoot for People Magazine’s Most Beautiful issue. She spoke to the mag about her skin care regimen and the exact products she uses to keep her skin ance-free and glowing. See what she said below!
Demi Lovato’s Skin Secrets — Her Clear Skin Routine
“When I’m not working I wear as [little] makeup as possible,” she told People magazine. “Sometimes I just go without for sure. I like, forgot how to do nighttime makeup. When I don’t have makeup on, I feel confident. The main thing that’s normally covered up when I put on makeup is my under eyes, they tend to get a little dark.” My daily routine when I take care of my skin — it consists of me waking up in the morning. First thing I do is wash my face. I use all of Renee Rouleau’s products. I wash my face with an exfoliant gel and then I use a toner and then I put moisturizer on. Then I put sunscreen on and I do eye cream. Throughout the day I’ll apply more sunscreen if I don’t have makeup on. At night, I always, always make sure I take off my makeup, just because I hate waking up with makeup on but also because it ages you. And I always, always moisturize at night. So I wash my face, apply toner, do whatever I need to do, little extra thing here and there, but that’s my night routine.”
Demi Lovato: Her Exact Favorite Products
“I use Renee Rouleau BHA Clarifying Serum, Neosporin, or I put Aquaphor all over my face overnight. My superdry skin just eats it up.” About the clarifying serum, Demi says: “This clears up anything on my skin overnight.” Demi says she prefers to go natural, but she does love to go glam for the cameras! “When it’s showtime, I rock it up!”
Do you think Demi has some of the best skin in the business?
