Demi Lovato kissed a girl, and she liked it — or at least her “Glee” character did. Last month, Naya Rivera Rivera confirmed to MTV News that Lovato would be playing her Dani, one of Lea Michele’s pals in NYC who gets a crush on her character, Santana. And now the “X Factor” judge is opening up about what it’s like to play a gay character on the small screen.

“Well I took a meeting so before I even booked the role. I knew what the role was going to be, and [Naya Rivera and I] had an awesome time working together,” Lovato told MTV News. “She’s such a badass; I love her. And I’ve been friends with a lot of the people from the cast beforehand, so I feel right at home.”

While Lovato isn’t new to acting, playing a member of the LGBT community offered up a unique challenge for the former Disney star and multi-hyphenate performer. She added,

“Figuring out how to represent that community… it’s been pretty awesome to represent that on primetime TV.”

Lovato will reportedly be on the show for a multi-episode arc, beginning in one of the first two episodes airing September 26. And when MTV News caught up with Rivera on the red carpet of the 2013 Video Music Awards, she seemed just as excited as Lovato.

“I mean, she’s playing my love interest, so I’m very, very excited about that,” Rivera said. “We get to sing a song together. It’s gonna be good. I’m excited to work with her. We’re bringing her to the dark side. Well, she comes in in a Beatles episode, so [we’re singing] a Beatles song. I’m excited.”

Demi Lovato recently received triple VEVO certified honors, for three of her videos reaching over 100 million views on VEVO. “Skyscraper,” “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Heart Attack” all surpassed the 100 million views! Demi thanked her fans, saying,

“Thank you guys so much. This means so much more to me than any of you can imagine. It’s a dream come true, so thank you so much.”

Demi also talked about her love for her fans and becoming a role model, she explained, after

“I became open about my issues.” She added, “Now I can finally say that I do feel like a role model. I take that very seriously.”

Demi shed some light on co-directing “Made in the USA,” but said she’s always been involved in the process of making music videos. She said she’s always excited about her videos,

“specifically the songs that I really have a huge connection to.”

Congratulations, Demi!

Before Demi Lovato and Naya Rivera play love interests on “Glee,” fans are getting to hear what they sound like together on their duet of the Beatles classic “Here Comes the Sun.” Their version, which hit the Internet this week, has the two ladies singing in perfect harmony over a plucky guitar. Written by George Harrison, the track first was included on the Beatles’ 1969 album, Abbey Road. Naya first broke the news to MTV News last month that Demi had signed on to play her love interest. She’s slated to play NYC artist Dani during a multi-episode arc beginning on one of the first two episodes.

“[Naya Rivera and I] had an awesome time working together,” Lovato told MTV News earlier this month. “She’s such a badass; I love her. And I’ve been friends with a lot of the people from the cast beforehand, so I feel right at home.”

“Here Comes The Sun” is one of the 14 Beatles tracks that will be covered during the first two episodes of “Glee.” Other songs include “Help,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be.” In addition to the Demi/Naya version of “Here Comes the Sun,” Lea Michele’s cover of “Yesterday” has also been released early. The legendary Beatles track originally appeared on the band’s 1965 album, Help!.

Demi Lovato is to dedicate a unique gig to her die-hard fans. The ‘X Factor’ USA judge has joined forces with ‘The Voice’ USA coach Cee Lo Green to launch a new live digital viewing experience, 2vLive, which will stream two of the pair’s exclusive live concerts next month, and the beauty is going to use her upcoming performance to pay tribute to her supporters. Demi, whose fans are known as Lovatics, said:

”To all my Lovatics … I am dedicating this exclusive concert to you all! Join in on the fun with 2vLive, for the full experience! This is universal, so fans all over the world can buy tickets and become a part of the first, private 2vLive performance live from Toronto.”

Jennifer Dyer, President of 2vLive, is delighted to have got Cee Lo and Demi on board for the new project, which aims to enhance the experience of attending live concerts by allowing fans to view their favourite artists via mobiles, tablets or desktops in HD, and they can even choose where they sit thanks to the multi-camera options. She said:

”Cee Lo and Demi have been great partners in producing these upcoming concerts and we are looking forward to kicking off our launch season line up with their performances. Their like minded approach to the evolution of how fans connect with their favourite artists has made this a true relationship and an experience we know the fans are going to love!”

2vLive also allows fans to Tweet, Facebook and Instagram during the show direct from its platform to enable supporters to share real-time experiences without leaving the environment. Fans can tune in for the first performance by Cee Lo at the Sound Academy in Toronto on October 21 and Demi will play at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles on October 28.

Tickets to these live stream concerts are £4.99 and can be purchased directly at 2vLive (www.2vLive.com).

Naya Rivera is having a blast with her on and off-screen loves! The “Glee” star – who just dropped her new single, “Sorry” – stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday where she dished about Demi Lovato appearing on the Fox series.

“She’s awesome and we’re having a blast and we’re so happy to have her,” she told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.

Naya joked that she and Demi did some extra rehearsals to make their onscreen same-sex relationship look authentic.

“I made out with her like in my trailer before we shot the scene. So then I just like warmed her up. You know what I’m saying,” she said with a laugh.

The 26-year-old’s boyfriend, Big Sean, was sorry he missed the onscreen couple’s day of shooting.

“He was like, ‘Oh man, I’m out of town, I’m jealous!’” she recalled.

Is impending fatherhood turning Simon Cowell into a softie? A little, says his X Factor colleague, Demi Lovato. “He’s [mostly] the same, but maybe he’s gotten a little nicer this year,” returning judge Lovato, 21, admits in a new interview of Cowell, who’s expecting a baby boy with girlfriend Lauren Silverman. Though Cowell, 53, may be expecting a son before too long, he still has to contend with an overload of estrogen on X Factor’s judging panel, as Lovato has been joined by newcomers Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio. (Both Rowland and Rubio are well-versed in the art of reality competition judging: Rowland appeared on the eighth season of Cowell’s U.K. X Factor, while Rubio judged Telemundo’s La Voz Kids, the first Spanish-language version of The Voice.) As Lovato explains, the X Factor’s trio of lovely ladies can’t help but keep Cowell on his toes.

“It feels like a new and refreshed version of the show,” Lovato says of the new panel of judges. “Paulina is a firecracker! You never know what’s going to come out of her mouth. Pretty much everything she says makes me laugh.”

Going into the FOX hit’s third season, Lovato — who recently booked an arc as Naya Rivera’s on-screen love interest on Glee — predicts she and her frenemy Cowell will continue to tussle during their critiques. After all, viewers have come to know and love their oft-contentious banter.

“This year, he’s up against me and two other girls who don’t put up with him,” warns Lovato. “It’s basically a whole panel against Simon — it’s great! We’re not Simon’s angels — we’re Simon’s demons!”

The X Factor airs Wednesdays and Thursdays on FOX.
