General Basics & Summary
Here We Go Again is second studio album by singer-songwriter, Demi Lovato. It was released on July 21, 2009 under Hollywood Records.
Background
Lovato stated that the new album is "going to have a different sound". In contrast to the pop rock influences of her debut album, Don't Forget, this album will incorporate more "John Mayer-ish type of songs". Demi also expressed that her previous album had more of a Jonas Brothers sound, as they helped co-write it. She wanted to make this album "more me."
She has been working with musical inspirations John Mayer, Jon McLaughlin, and William Beckett. Lovato said she would be performing her new music on her Summer Tour
Promotion
Radio Disney premiered songs from the album daily starting on July 16. This led up to the album premiere on Saturday, July 18 with a rebroadcast the next day.
Critical reception
Critical reception for the album was generally positive. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic noted that the album was not as much fun as Lovato's previous album, Don't Forget, but he praised "Here We Go Again," "Solo," "Remember December," and "So Far So Great" as high points, for being "ideally matched to Lovato's adolescent energy and spirit, which remain her most appealing qualities." Kerri Mason of Billboard praised the album for not relying heavily on production compared to other Disney Channel artists and called Lovato "a natural talent who could really take flight after outgrowing Disney." Simon Vozick-Levinson of Entertainment Weekly praised the more rock-oriented tracks such as "Got Dynamite," calling them suggestions of "a direction that might set her apart in years to come."

Alterations
Earlier versions of the track listing were very different. From the original track listing, "Everything You're Not" was added, while "Gift of a Friend" and "So Far So Great" were bonus tracks, and two other tracks existed titled "For the Love of a Daughter" and "Shut Up & Love Me were removed, cause they are too mature.
When asked about the deletion of "For the Love of a Daughter", a track written about Lovato's relationship with her estranged father, she said, "When I took a step back I realized I wouldn't like those subjects being talked about in somebody else's home, with a seven-year-old and their mom."
Another track titled "Shut Up and Love Me " which was written by John Mayer was also left off the album forit was considered a too mature song for Disney Channel viewers.

Well, well, well the day has finally arrived... July 21st, 2009 & the official release of D's HOTLY anticipated new album, Here We Go Again. I see this possibly giving Demi her very first #1 album on the Billboard Charts. If Disney's track record on the charts is anything to go by, I think Demi's a definite #1 choice. With that being said, here's my small, but to the point review of the album. Here we go...
To start off, I say the new album is a HUGE step up from Demi's debut, Don't Forget. Whereas that album fit her status at the time of a new up & comer, this one shows how much she's grown since that time - in regards to the definite strength of her vocal delivery & the growth of her songwriting skills and instrument playing. This all by itself is what I think will cement Demi's staying power in a very cutthroat industry. There aren't, IMHO, enough artists out there who write their own music & are very skilled at it + ones that play instruments. These are the kind I feel will most prosper into the future, not at all taking away from any of the artists out there doing their thing currently.
Onto the album...
Honestly, I say that this is definitely one of the best new releases of the year so far, each song has it's own story & takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride of different emotions - which Demi does rather well w/ each track on the record. The influences she's taken from other artists is also evident - starting off w/ the "Get my boyfriend away from me" vibe of Here We Go Again (D's very well done take on Kelly C's Since U Been Gone) to the Hayley Williams-styled vocal delivery on Quiet to the emotion-driven power on Catch Me (the 2nd single written by Demi herself) - very reminiscent of Regina Spektor. Other stand out tracks include Every Time You Lie, Got Dynamite, Remember December, Stop The World, World Of Chances (one of two tracks written by Demi & John Mayer), & the beautiful Irish-tinged ballad Gift Of A Friend.
All in all, I say the album will elevate Demi's status from Newcomer to Superstar and silence those doubters of her staying power due to the fact that she's backed by Disney. I see her being able to excel in the music industry well after her time w/ Disney comes to a close. She's a definite breath of fresh air in the industry who's been in need of a new breakthrough star. If you ask me who it is, Demi is my choice for that honor hands-down.

Well, I've decided i should share my personal review to you guys, because your a lovely fansite with high energy in giving fans the 411 on Demi Lovato, I've waited for the release of her spectacular second album, since she announced the realese date about a month ago, but correct me if im wrong about that one. Demi has grown up - in songwriting, singing & her instrument playing. She has been preparing for the big moment of releasing this album. She turns 17 in less than a month and becoming #1 on ITunes on the day of release of course is a good step up for her, this album has brought out her influential songwriting than never before.
She's shown more mature songs, and the lyrics are bound to inspire a lot of girls out there, Its shown her rocky side but at the same time with songs like Catch Me & Falling Over Me, and even World Of Chances, bring out smooth and slow melodies with spectacular and inspiring lyrics, With writing Catch Me all on her own, she has shown she is able to be very emotional in her writing. Songs like U Got Nothin On Me & Everything Your Not bring out the rocky edge with a little bit of Breakup Sound to the songs from the lyrics, She has proved writing songs about Breakups and Relationships but not only writing songs on the bad side of love but also the good side. She has shown writing songs about breakups, are her strong point. Songs like Stop The World has a beautiful opening sound, with slow and smooth vocals from Demi Herself. But not only being able to make sure the songs are influential to people, from the first track Here We Go Again, the album tells a story in order from the first track to the last, from saying in Here We Go Again i want you back, to saying she wants someone your not, but everything in-between fills in the gaps to how it got to that place, and thats something I've only been able to see through looking deeply to what she's wrote throughout each song. But also many songs on the album have for me, i've been able to relate to the story, because i can connect with the lyrics, because I have been in a really similar situation to what the lyrics are telling us. The CD Has a fabulous booklet to go with the album, showing all the lyrics and being inspired by the official photoshoot, shown on your site and the booklet, overall the album is greeted by positive feedback. Demi will be able to get better by saying to herself she did one perfect job with this album, and we all know this album will make her a much bigger singer. She deserves the best in life, and this album will be one of her very number #1 memories, and we hope for many more albums to come.
